General Comments about some nice places to run in America's Finest City

Here is a list of clubs, tracks, and some of our favorite runs

Clubs

We are endeavoring to make this the comprehensive list of clubs and running events in San Diego. If your club wants to be listed, drop the webmaster a line, and we will add you to the list. We will also give you a free web page too! If you want your club listed here, let us know!

Schools and Teams

All Weather Tracks

There are several synthetic surface, all weather tracks in the San Diego area...as if it ever rains here!

Road Runs

If you are new to San Diego, or just visiting, there are lots of great places to run around town. We have compiled a short list here, with directions on how to get there to make your introduction to San Diego as fun as possible. Most of these runs aren't really on roads, but they are in town, and on paved surfaces (like the Mission Beach Boardwalk.) If you don't see anything here near your hotel, ask us, and we probably know of something nearby. If you are a local, and want to add a run, mail the webmaster.

Trail Runs

San Diego has some of the nicest trails in the country. The local geography has canyons cut in mesas. Generally the canyons are still undeveloped, and are great places to run. Mission Trails Park is one of the largest city parks in the country. About 45 miles east of downtown are the Laguna Mountains, with peaks over 6000 feet tall. This is the location of the Laguna Mountain Recreation Area, and Rancho Cuyamaca State Park, with hundreds of miles of running trails. Here are just a few of our favorites. The Movin Shoes Sunday Adventure run is a great way to get to see the trails around San Diego's Backcountry. If you prefer Longer Runs, contact the local Ultra Club, SURF.

Races

Raceplace Magazine has a complete listing of races in the San Diego and Greater Los Angeles areas.
